Research Activities University Research Activities
    In accordance with its objectives Muğla University promotes both basic and applied research. The aim of the research activities and technical services carried out by the University is to contribute to the advancement of knowledge, the development of professional and industrial practice on local, national and international platforms, and the assessment of social and environmental impact.

Basic research is mainly initiated by the individual efforts of the academic staff and also includes some of the studies conducted in the form of thesis work by the graduate students.

Research can be started off within departments of faculties or it may have an interdepartmental structure. The Institute of Natural Sciences and the Institute of Social Sciences provide research and publication facilities besides degree opportunities for successful graduates in different fields of natural and social sciences. The University also has 10 research and application centers to address local, national and international issues via research and development projects. The sponsored research activities are carried out either on the request of outside institutions or provided for them at the initiative of the University. Many research projects are also funded by the University Revolving Fund as well as such organizations as TUBITAK, State Planning Organization, and EC. The Scientific Research Projects Committee plays a prominent role during the application, evaluation, support, and publication processes of project proposals.

MÜPKOM - Project Coordination Centre
Mübkom works as a technical assistance office to coordinate all national and international scientific projects and provide technical assistance for the academics involved.

KARYA CENTRE - Research and Application Centre for Carian Studies

This centre has been established to pursue research and development activities concerned with the archaeological investigation and scientific promotion of the Caria region.

MÜÇEMER - Research and Application Centre for Environmental Studies
Director: Prof.Dr.Ahmet BALCI

This is a multi-disciplinary research and development centre which welcomes researchers with an interest in environmental issues and which aims at contributing to the scientific studies concerned with the rapidly increasing environmental problems.

MÜMMER - Research and Application Centre for Mycology
Director: Prof.Dr.Mustafa IŞILOĞLU

The Centre places its research focus on mycology which holds a considerable importance for the region.

MÜKÜMER - Research and Application Centre for Historical and Cultural Heritage of Muğla
Director: Assist.Prof.M.Naci ÖNAL

The research activities carried out in the centre are concerned with the historical, social and cultural wealth of Muğla Province. Reflecting its findings through seminars, conferences, reports or publications, the centre contributes to the promotion of the region in the scientific community.

MÜNİBAM - Research and Application Centre for Apiculture and Sericulture

Münibam was established to pursue research and application activities in the area of apiculture and sericulture.

MÜBİM - Research and Application Centre for Computers, Informatics and Communication

Mübim, which was founded in 1996, is involved in research and development activities encompassing the main areas of computers, information technologies, data processing, and communication.

MÜFOMER - Research and Application Centre for Phonetics

The Centre has been established to pursue research and application in the field of Turkish phonetics and dialects, placing emphasis on regional dialects.

MÜTEK-ARGE - Research and Development Centre for Clean Energy Sources

Mütek-Arge is a centre committed to developing and delivering research on clean, applicable and alternative energy sources. Closely following the newest technologies, it aims at bringing this knowledge into the country. Particular research interests cover solar energy, wind energy, bio-energy, wave energy, and energy conservation.
