Sports and Recreation Activities

Physical fitness is important in achieving and maintaining mental and physical health. Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University offers sports facilities and organises activities in sports and recreation at all levels of ability for students and staff members.

Football, volleyball, basketball, handball, athletics, badminton, tennis, table tennis, swimming, diving, caving, trekking, climbing, cross training, aerobics, wrestling, and martial arts are some of the popular indoor and outdoor activities available. Traditional games, races, or competitions are organised every year within the university. The Health, Culture, and Sports Activities Office coordinates student sports activities. Different university sports teams participate in various regional and national sports competitions every year and return with many championships.

Sports Facilities

·         Sıtkı Koçman Sports Halls (open on weekdays, 08:00-23:00) have a 2,500 audience-capacity games hall, table tennis rooms, aerobics/gymnastics/step rooms, a café, changing rooms and showers. They are open to all students and staff through membership or daily entrance passes.

·         A half Olympic-size indoor swimming pool, where practical training sessions and swimming courses are also organised, is open to all students and staff through membership or daily entrance tickets.

·         There are five open tennis courts, a table tennis hall, and a fitness hall on campus that can be used by students and staff through membership or hourly/daily entrance passes.

·         Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Stadium contains a grass field and athletics track in accordance with UEFA/FIFA/IAFF standards for national and international football and athletics games, a 3,500 seating capacity, and changing and shower rooms.

·         Within campus there are also open basketball, volleyball, handball, and miniature football fields open to students and staff every day.

·         All students and staff can use the running and trekking track free of charge, which is situated in the pine woods behind the staff residences.
