Graduate Degree Programmes

The graduate schools, known as ‘institutes,’ offer graduate courses and degrees in three main areas: educational sciences, natural sciences, and social sciences. Each institute coordinates the curricula for its respective departments.

Students who have obtained a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited university are eligible to apply for a master’s or doctorate degree programme, respectively. The master’s degree, which commonly takes four semesters to complete, corresponds to a second cycle degree as described in the Bologna Process and the graduates are awarded with a ‘yüksek lisans diploma,’ as commonly named in the national system. The doctorate degree, which commonly takes eight semesters to complete, corresponds to a third cycle degree as described in the Bologna Process and the graduates are awarded with a PhD title.
