The 28th youth road running event to pay homage to the founder of Turkish Republic Atatürk took place

Muğla University organized the 28th youth road running event on the occasion of Veteran Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s passing this year as it does every year.
The race in which the women ran 4k race while the men ran 7k, began in Yeniköy neighborhood. 
The race ended in the football stadium of the university following the course of Yeniköy and Kötekli neighborhoods.
By the end of the event, Rahime Tekin from Muğla University came first;  Gülbahar Çetin from Adnan Menderes University came second and Dilan Atak from Akdeniz University came third among female athletes whilst Ferdi Kalyoncu came first; Savaş Dayan from Pamukkale University came second and Yunus Emre Ertuğrul came third among male athletes.
Among veteran female athletes between the ages of 40-49, Gönül Babayiğit İrez came first; Başak Erdal came second and Lale Tut came third whilst among veteran male athletes from the same age group, Onur Ulaş Eroğlu came first; Ömer Karamersin came second and Muzaffer Kaplan came third.
As for the veteran female athletes at the age of 50 and above, Fatma Anter and Sevil Yıldırım won the first prize. Among veteran male athletes from the same age group Yılmaz Karabulut became the first winner; Yavuz Ertekin came second and Süleyman Utcu came third.
After the race Orhan Tavlı, the Governor of Muğla Province; Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Çiçek, the President of Muğla University; Vice Presidents Prof. Dr. Sırrı Sunay Gürleyük, Prof. Dr. Ali Bayrakdaroğlu and Prof. Dr. Artay Yağcı; the Chief Public Prosecutor of Muğla Mehmet Nadir Yağcı gave away the prizes to the winners during the ceremony held in the stadium of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University.
